CBC baseball will have two new alumni joining the coaching staff in 2024. Former all-region pitcher Shane Martin and all-region secondbaseman Will Baker. Martin was an ace for the Hawks in his two years at CBC before transferring to finish his career at Northwest Nazarene in Idaho. Baker most recently graduated from CBC in 2023 where he helped lead the Hawks to their first tournament appearance since 2017.

The additions to the staff help bring a wealth of knowledge that will add to the growing success under head coach Stefan McGovern. "I'm very excited for the opportunity to hire two former players on my coaching staff here at CBC. It's always been my dream to have players come back and want to be apart of the program and college that they started at, because they have a ton of credibility when dealing with our student-athletes since they have been where players are now", said McGovern. "Shane Martin was my best pitcher in my first year as head coach at CBC and had a successful career at local powerhouse NNU, and Will Baker is one of my all time favorite players I've ever coached. I'm incredibly fortunate to have former players of their caliber to come back and help develop our players."

Martin and Baker join a growing list of alumni coaches on campus for the Hawks including the recent hires of Amanda Brown and Kenzie Lowry for Softball and Dani Chang for Women's Soccer. They will hit the ground running come September starting with the Fall season. The Hawks will look to challenge Spokane again in 2024 for an East Region title with some momentum behind their sails. Basin opens the 2024 season at home against the 2022 champions from Linn-Benton.
