Rocket League and Overwatch 2 Records Improve with Wins; Valorant Sits as #1 in the West Week 5

CBC Rocket League continued their rematch games in the West Region against Lake Area Technical College – White (LATC – White) and Laramie County Community College (LCCC). With last week's loss against Salt Lake, CBC RL were looking to pick up their momentum with some wins. After beating LATC – White in their first meeting, the Hawks were looking to defeat them once again. Game 1 in the best-of-5 series, London "PremierBump" Thiladeth, Jason "Yaxon-_-" Gomez, and Miguel "leaf" Jinez kicked off and showed a dominant start. CBC in the first 3 minutes of the game found 5 goals on LATC – White and picked up 3 more in the last 2 minutes, with Gomez picking up 4 goals alone. Going into game 2, Brigham "brigamortis1881" Stromberg game in for Thiladeth. CBC had a bit of a slower start but found the first goal at the 3 minute mark, which was one of many to quickly follow in succession of 4 more goals within a minute. The Hawks matched their game 1 score with an 8-0 win, with Yaxon picking up 6 of the goals and 10 shot attempts. Moaiad "starz" Eljack was brought in for Gomez for game 3, where it was a quick wrap for the 3-0 sweep, with CBC winning 6-1. In match 2 against LCCC, both teams defense were showing in game 1, until a late goal found the back of CBC's net with a minute and 33 seconds left in the game after a miscommunication on defense between Jinez and Gomez and Thiladeth looking for an up-field pass. Putting the Hawks down 0-1, London executed a quick attack on goal after kick-off with a flick pass to Jason to tie the game 1-1 in just 6 seconds. CBC found another quick kick-off goal with Leaf and PremierBump connecting to give the Hawks a 2-1 goal lead and Leaf shortly finding 2 more goals for a bit of breathing room and to close out game 1 4-1. CBC RL were able to close out game 2 6-2 and game 3 2-0 to give the Hawks 2 more wins on the season.

CBC Overwatch 2 went up against Northwest State Community College for week 5. With a Delay of Game violation, CBC went up 2-0 in the best-of-5 series, which advanced the map to the Escort game mode, which "Junkertown" was the selection. The Hawks were able to hold NSCC to their spawn point for their offense and then quickly move the cart the needed distance to win the map and the series 3-0.

CBC Valorant went head-to-head against their rivals, Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) in week 5 play. SLCC came in with only 1 loss on the season and still in the hunt for a west region title finish. However, CBC looked to stay undefeated and be on top of the West. Map 1 brought both teams to "Haven" to kick the best-of-3 series off. SLCC took a slow approach in round 1 and executed site C before planting the spike. After a successful retake and winning a 3vs1, the Hawks took round 1, which helped coast them through round 2 with weapon advantage. Going into round 3 with a bonus round and disadvantage, Jesus "Telekit" Armenta found 3 of the 5 SLCC players and Orlando "Yungchiken" Barillas found the other 2, messing up Salt Lake's economy. CBC was able to secure round 4 with a successful defuse of the spike on site A and another 3k (3 kills/eliminations) by Telekit. SLCC were able to finally find their first round win, making the score 4-1 after 5 rounds. After picking up the next round, Noah "X3NTRIC" Bealey, paired with Roberto "pcuv" Rolon assist, found 3 quick eliminations on SLCC with an ultimate play and shortly winning the round after. At 7-1, SLCC took their timeout of the half to discuss strategy into for the last 4 rounds of the half. The timeout helped SLCC find 2 more rounds, but CBC was able to pick up 2 more, ending the half 9-3. CBC struggled on the attack in the first 4 rounds, going 0-4 and taking a timeout with the score 9-7. After the timeout, CBC was able to pick up the next 2 attack round point, forcing Salt Lake to take their round timeout at 11-7. Winning the next round taking it to match point, 12-7, Barillas was able to pick up 3 eliminations, but unable to pick up the last player on SLCC, letting Salt Lake hang on 12-8, and improving to 12-10 with the next 2. With the Hawks in a 3vs4 situation, Rolon, Barillas, and Isic "BioExecutioner" Hoyt took site A in a firefight, which left Hoyt in a 1vs1 situation, which CBC came out on top, winning map 1 13-10. Map 2 took both teams to "Sunset", with the Hawks starting on defense again. The start of the match repeated itself from map 1, with CBC winning the first 4 rounds, forcing a timeout from SLCC, and losing round 5, making the score 4-1. In the next 3 rounds, CBC improved their score to a 6-2, with Roberto picking up a 3k of his own. After picking up one more round for SLCC, CBC moved into their attack up 9-3. After losing their first attack round, CBC was able to pick up the next round, improving to 10-4 in the map with a 1vs2 clutch by Orlando. Both teams traded again, making the score 11-5, but CBC kept the round momentum and improved to 12-5. SLCC were able to win the next 2, but CBC were able to close out the 3vs3 situation with Rolon picking up another 3k on the night and winning the map 13-7 and series 2-0 overall. With the win over SLCC, CBC remains as the only undefeated team in the West region for the NJCAAE Fall Division 1 season and #1 in the West.
