Esports Starts Off NJCAAE Spring 2026 Season

CBC Esports began their 2026 season for the NJCAAE this week for their Spring titles. The Hawks for the Spring added a 4th title with an individual player for Tekken 8, Andres "Puncakes" Uribe, Tekken 8 is a 1 verse 1 fighting game, with each round being the first to 3 wins and the overall match being a best-of-5 series. Uribe matched up againt Lake Sumter Community College for the opening game of the season. The Hawks began the series up a quick 2-0 after a "delay of game" rule violation and a "custom item" use violation by Lake Sumter. While already on match point, Puncakes took a slower start to figure out their opponent, going down in the 3rd match, making the series 2-1. However, that was all Andres needed and swiftly took a 3-0 round sweep over Lake Sumter, winning 3-1 in the match. Due to server maintenance, the match up against College of the Muscogee Nation had to be rescheduled to March 16th at 7:00pm PST.

CBC Rocket League, coming off a 4th place National finish, finds themselves in a lager Central Region group instead of a smaller West Region. CBC paired up against a familiar foe in Central Community College. The Hawks quickly went to work in the best-of-5 series with a swift 3-0 victory of Central CC. The second match in the double header was a battle between the Hawks with Heartland Community College, another National finishing team in the Fall season. Miguel "Leaf" Jinez, London "PremiereBump" Thiladeth, and Brigham "brigamortis1881" Stromberg were the starting lineup for the match. CBC were off to a slower start, going down 0-2 in the match series. After a tactical time out by head coach Joel Harvey, the team took a moment to discuss a game plan and run it with the same 3 players to try to pull off the reverse sweep. Columbia Basin struck back with making the series tied at 2-2, forcing a game 5 deciding match. CBC unfortunately could not pull off the reverse sweep, falling short and picking up their first loss of the season, starting off their regular season 1-1.
CBC Overwatch finds themselves in a smaller West Region group for the Spring 2026 season. To start off the season, CBC matched up to familiar school and common rival Salt Lake Community College. CBC finishing 3rd Nationally in the Fall season had a few new faces in the line-up, with Daniel "Velcon" Wilson joining the DPS lineup and Damon "DooMination" Martinez shifting to the Support role. CBC struck first in a back-and-forth first map "Lijiang Tower" on the kind-of-the-hill still game mode, winning the map 2-0 and taking a 1-0 series lead. With the selection of "King's Road" for the Hybrid game mode by Salt Lake, Columbia Basin started on the offensive side. Skylar "skitsu" Phanekham with the sniper character pick of "Widowmaker" made a significant impact, helping the Hawks quickly complete all 3 points with more time that they had to begin with. On defense, with the final fight and Lucas "BAAAAABAAAAA" Grenier picking up 3 eliminations on his own and play of the game, CBC held SLCC in a full hold, increasing the lead to 2-0. Last map was no different for the Hawks, as it showed that CBC were comfortable, and it was decided shortly with a 3rd map win and the 3-0 sweep on the series.

CBC Valorant began their CVal NJCAAE Season with a match against Saint Louis Community College. With only the top 4 out of 8 in the region advancing to the National Playoffs, every game matters. For the first map selection by STLCC, "Pearl," the Hawks started on the defensive side for the first 12 rounds. With little experience on the map and STLCC selecting it, the Hawks were able to go into half-time with the score even 6-6. Both teams battled it back-and-forth, with another tied score at 8-8 and again at 11-11. STLCC were able to find the last 2 rounds back-to-back to close out map 1 with the score of 11-13, going up 0-1 in the best-of-3 series. CBC map selection for map 2 was "Haven." A much more familiar map for the Hawks and it showed quickly with the Hawks taking a quick 6-0 round lead over STLCC on offense. Finishing the first half with the score of 9-3, the Hawks only gave up 3 rounds on defense before hitting the 13 rounds needed to secure map 2, with the final map score 13-6. Map 3 "Bind" was another comfortable map for the Hawks and it was a swift victory for CBC, finishing it quickly with at 13-4 map win and pick up their first win on the season in their region.
