Box Score FINAL SCORE YVC 71 CBC 59
For the first time since November, Columbia Basin was able to suit up and play their entire roster. After inserting back into the line up at Spokane,
Anna Reeves suited up for her first home game and made an immediate impact.Â
CBC came out swinging early with
Ali Martineau and Reeves who combined for 8 of the team's 18 points in the quarter.
Allexus Montelongo was able to navigate the Yakima press for a successful quarter to the tune of 42% shooting.
Martineau helped propel CBC into halftime with a 7 point lead.
Sami Sanders chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds on the half while Yakima struggled to find any sort of rhythm.
On the other side of the half, fatigue began to set in as the Hawks saw a 7 point lead dwindle and eventually erode into a 5 point deficit after the 3rd quarter. Jenni Johnson scored 15 points off the bench for the Yaks while CBC shot 3-13 and committed 5 turnovers.
Yakima's lead grew to 9 before Martineau and company were able to cut it to 5 with 4 minutes to play. Yakima responded back with a couple of transition buckets to push it all the way back to 13 points before the final buzzer sounded.
Despite the loss,
Roosevelt Smith's team showed they can play with anyone in the East as they tested Yakima every step of the way. Martineau finished the day with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Reeves added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the Post. The Hawks will look to rebound on Martin Luther King day this upcoming Monday as North Idaho comes to town for what is sure to be an excellent matchup.
