GAME 1 FINAL SCORE: North Idaho 11 Columbia Basin 3
Columbia Basin fell short in game 1 of the double header 11 to 3.
Ashlynn Nixon was 2-2 with two doubles and a sac fly to lead the way for the Hawks. Basin had plenty of chances but couldn't come up with the big hit in innings with runners on base. North Idaho slowly added runs to the board before scoring 4 runs in back to back innings to end the game on the 8-run rule in the fifth.
Kendra Hart also added two hits and scored a run for the Hawks in the effort. Starter
Amanda Brown pitched well for most of the outing before NIC was able to open the game up late. Brown has been improving every outing so far this year which show promise for the future.
GAME 2 FINAL SCORE: North Idaho 22 Columbia Basin 13
The ladder of the double header featured a much higher scoring affair. CBC jumped out early to a 4-0 lead after 3 innings. Hart lead the way with two doubles and a home run good for 5 RBIS. Nixon also homered in the contest. After leading 4-0, North Idaho scored 8 in the 4th before Basin came back with 4 of their own to tie it back up. After a long 5th inning, the score was all tied up at 11-11. The Cardinals proceeded to score 11 runs in the 6th which would prove too much for CBC.
Kylie Koszykowski singled in two runs in the 6th but the Hawks couldn't muster up another big inning in time before the 8-run rule. Despite the outcome, the CBC bats came alive again after a disappointing week against Spokane. They look to break the losing streak this weekend against the same North Idaho team.
