Box Score 2 Columbia Basin dropped Game 1 of their East Region home opener before having Game 2 halted due to darkness at 12-12 in the 8th inning.
GAME 1
#2 North Idaho came to down to Pasco for Friday double header in the home opener for CBC. The Hawks struck first off an NIC error. From there, the Cardinals were able to put together a strong 3rd and 4th inning with timely hitting. Basin struggled to get anything going at the plate with runners on base.
GAME 2
The bats came alive in Game 2 as Basin controlled the game at the plate.
Stephanie Bryson and
Kodi Fraser each had 2 RBIs with Bryson logging 3 hits. In the top of the 7th, NIC used 3 home runs to take a 12-8 lead. With hope waning, the Hawks scratched one across to make it 12-9. With 2 outs and 2 runners on, freshman catcher
Bree Waldron picked a great moment to launch her first collegiate home run and it was a no-doubter. The 3-run shot to center tied the game up at 12 all. After a scoreless 8th inning, the game was halted due to darkness.
Both teams will finish off the halted game when CBC travels to NIC for the 2nd double header against the Cardinals. CBC will host Spokane on Saturday as they look to get back into the win column against the Sasquatch.
