CBC hosting their annual Invitational tournament at home on Meadow Springs Country Club. The Men outpaced their NWAC opponents as well as NAIA opponent Montana Tech. Finishing with a combined team score of +39, the Hawks finished 8 strokes ahead of SW Oregon and sophomore
Apollos Morris carded a tournament best 70 on Day 2 to land atop the medal list with a +6 and his first tournament win. The Women finished above their NWAC opponents but fell short to a strong Montana Tech roster. Sophomore
Rose McCartney lead the way for CBC with +33 tied for 5th place honors.
Coach Quinton Parnell was happy with the team performance of the men. "This was a full team effort taking scores from all 6 players. Apollos had a fantastic finish on the final day posting the only under-par round of the tournament and taking the win. I feel our best golf is still ahead of us, we have some mental errors to clean up but we are in a great place." CBC has routinely finished ahead of their NWAC opponents but has spent a lot of season competing against 4-year schools.
"It was not our best performance but the ladies held in strong and battled hard the first day to get a 20 stroke deficit down to only 7. The course played very tough, especially for the ladies. Overall we are very pleased with a great kickoff to the spring season." said Parnell.
CBC will have 4 more tournaments before heading into the championship tournament with their sights set on an NWAC title. They will head over to Walla Walla University for an invite at Wine Valley as part of another 4-year event on April 13th.
