Box Score FINAL SCORE: Columbia Basin 87 North Idaho 96
Eager to build on the growth they've made over the past few weeks, Coach
Bryan Edwards and his team came out ready to turn heads. Four players scored in double figures for CBC lead by
Sergio Pineda's 16 points.
Kaden Padour also had 15 points off the bench.
Just like their Yakima game, Basin set the tempo early and kept pace with a long and athletic NIC team.
Carson Cloaninger was hot early scoring all 13 of his points in the first half. The Hawks out shot the Cardinals from behind the arc in the half helping them keep it a 2-point game 47-45.
In the second half,
Denzel Brantley scored 11 points while converting three 3-pointers. Brantley's effort in the half helped the Hawks climb back into the game after falling down 18 in the half. Brantley assisted on a
Ryan Wolf three to cut the lead to 9 with 2 to go but the charge would fall short as NIC put away free throws late to win by 9. Brantley finished with 13 points and 6 assists.
The loss drops CBC to 1-5 in conference despite their improving play. They will head to Treasure Valley on Wednesday before finishing the week at Walla Walla on Saturday the 1st.Â
