Pasco native Lynda Meyers was at the forefront of the Title IX movement, mandating gender equity for educational programs receiving federal financial support. Her efforts transitioned women’s athletics from a federal mandate into the programs we see today.
In 1972, Meyers began teaching physical education and coaching women’s basketball at CBC. With the implementation of Title IX, she pioneered CBC’s volleyball program in 1973, serving the program for 21 years, including 14 seasons as head coach. Lynda served as the Chair of the volleyball committee from 1980-1994.
Meyers began serving as an NWAAC Athletic Commissioner in 1981, and was appointed CBC's Athletic Director in 1982. She held both positions through 1994. As Commissioner, she served on the NWACC Executive Board during the merger of two intercollegiate athletic associations, transitioning into the current Northwest Athletic Conference. As Athletic Director, Lynda added women's golf and reinstated baseball in 1985.
Meyers was named Athletic Director of the Year in 1993 and inducted into the NWAACC Hall of Fame in 1994. She was inducted into the Pasco High School Hall of Fame in 2009
